On Tuesday, 8 November, the Presidium of the Parliamentary Administration and Internal Affairs Committee visited the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast. Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Bartosz Grodecki, attended the meeting.

Due to recent information about possible threats, it has been decided to erect a temporary barrier on our border with the Kaliningrad Oblast. We intend to have a contractor for the perimeter system selected by the end of November

– the Deputy Minister said. 

During the off-site meeting, Deputy Minister Bartosz Grodecki and the Presidium Members of the Parliamentary Administration and Internal Affairs Committee were briefed on the current situation on the border and information about the construction of the temporary barrier. They also went to the border crossings in Grzechotki and Bezledy, followed by a visit to the so-called "green border". 

The government's actions related to constructing the temporary barrier on the border with Russia are preventive measures. Polish women and men can feel safe

– the Committee Members emphasised.

The temporary barrier is being built along a 200 km stretch - from Vištytis to the Vistula Lagoon. Works began on 2 November. The structure is being erected at the request of the Border Guard, and the Armed Forces perform its construction.
