During this morning's crisis centre meeting, Prime Minister Donald Tusk asked the attendees to curb their enthusiasm and avoid premature celebrations, as the situation still proves challenging. The Prime Minister also warned about disinformation and assured that rumours concerning the plans to blow up embankments were false. The Polish Army is launching Operation Phoenix - a months-long campaign, which will see soldiers offering help in flood-affected areas. In the afternoon, the President of the European Commission and the leaders of Czechia, Slovakia and Austria will arrive in Wrocław.

19.09.2024 Wrocław20 billion PLN in EU funds earmarked for rebuilding the countryThe President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer and the Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala and Slovakia Robert Fico came to Wrocław at the invitation of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Ursula von der Leyen noted that countries dealing with the effects of the recent disaster will be able to use up to €10 billion earmarked for rebuilding within the framework of the Cohesion Fund. Poland will receive half of the total amount - €5 billion. During the evening meeting, Prime Minister Donald Tusk also announced that the Internal Security Agency had detained individuals who were impersonating soldiers and spreading disinformation. The Prime Minister also urged the officials to disburse subsidies to flood victims as quickly as possible.

At 7.00 a.m. in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office, the Prime Minister chaired the crisis centre meeting attended by Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak and Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak, firefighters, police officers, soldiers and local government officials. He urged the authorities not to disregard signals from residents in need of support in a difficult situation. He also announced that a special programme would be established to help rebuild flood-affected regions, as well as informed that the state of natural disaster would be declared for additional areas.

The necessary goods are being delivered to the affected areas by the Government's Strategic Reserve Agency, NGOs and the general public. Numerous fundraisers were also launched. Government websites enable verifying whether a fundraiser was officially verified and approved. Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as the Great Orchestra of Christmas charity and the Scouts are also involved in the flood response.
