Certifying a signature

Where to apply?

Attestation of signature authenticity can be obtained in any Polish consular post.

Do I have to apply in person?

Yes, to receive attestation of signature authenticity you must appear in person at a consular post.

How to book an appointment?

You do not have to make an appointment. You may come during the office hours of the consulate or you should contact the consul by e-mail: konsulat.pretoria@msz.gov.pl.

What documents do I need to submit?

Please prepare:

  • the document, the signature on which you want to attest,
  • valid identity document (passport or personal ID).

Please note! Polish law may require certain legal actions to take the form of a notarial deed in order to be valid (e.g.: authorisation to transfer ownership of real estate or distribution agreement of estate). It is impossible for a consul to attest the signature on this kind of document which you drafted yourself.

How much does it cost?

Charges in accordance with the table of consular fees.

What is the waiting time?

You can obtain the attestation of signature authenticity when you visit a consulate.

How to appeal?

If the attestation is refused, the consul will issue a decision. You can appeal to the Minister of Foreign Affairs within 7 days. The appeal is lodged through the consul who had issued the decision.
