Thanks to the Polish efforts, supported by the other countries of the 'five', the EU Member States have given a majority of votes in favour of the European Commission's draft regulation to grant Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary a second tranche of aid in the amount of EUR 100 million. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development is today attending a meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) in Luxembourg.

“Today we have made arrangements which are good for farmers in our countries and for Europe as a whole,” Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, informed after today’s talks with Mr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture of Hungary. In their statements after the meeting at the seat of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministers Agriculture of Poland and Hungary announced joint efforts to facilitate the transport of agri-food products from Ukraine through the Black Sea and to improve the land route.

During today’s talks of Secretary of State Janusz Kowalski with Mr. Ole Toft, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Poland, Poland and Denmark declared their readiness to engage in intensive cooperation to develop agricultural biogas plants.

Today’s meeting of Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, with Mr. Yu Jianhua, Minister of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, had a pivotal character. Poland achieved progress in the procedures conditioning the opening of the Chinese market to more categories of Polish food. The delegations also signed a large number of bilateral documents.

During their informal meeting in Stockholm, the EU Ministers of Agriculture addressed the challenges and opportunities for the agriculture and forestry sectors at European level. The Polish delegation, which came at the invitation of the Swedish Presidency, was headed by Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

During his stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Undersecretary of State Krzysztof Ciecióra participated in many important meetings related to the Polish-Saudi cooperation in the field of agriculture. During the talks in Riyadh, Deputy Minister Krzysztof Ciecióra was accompanied by Mr. Paweł Niemczuk, Chief Veterinary Officer, and Mr. Adrian Gawłowski, Deputy Director of the Export Support Department of the National Support Centre for Agriculture.

Yesterday’s meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries (AGRIFISH) Council in Brussels primarily addressed the current situation on the agricultural markets in the EU and the proposal for a Regulation on packaging and packaging waste. The Polish delegation was headed by Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The main subject matter of today’s talks of Undersecretary of State Krzysztof Ciecióra with Mr. Vidar Ulriksen, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries of Norway, was the current situation and needs in the scope of the further cooperation in the matters of the fish market and processing, including the issue of the access of Norwegian fishery products to the Polish and EU markets.

The most important issues in the scope of bilateral cooperation in the agri-food sector were addressed during today’s meeting of Secretary of State Rafał Romanowski with Mrs. Sultana Laila Hossain, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Poland, and Mr. Reshadur Rahman, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Bangladesh.

The bilateral cooperation of the states in the field of agriculture was the subject matter of today’s meeting of Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, with the representatives of the administration and business of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Minister was accompanied by Undersecretary of State Krzysztof Ciecióra. The Emirati delegation was headed by Mr. Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE.
