Results of our work
Issues addressed
The aim of the project was to acquire additional qualifications or professional skills by students, teachers, managers and administrative staff of the academy, adapted to the needs of the socio-economic environment and to provide support for organizational changes through the implementation of modern IT systems. The project improved quality of the teaching process by implementing modern IT solutions for the academy management and for student service, indirectly contributing to greater satisfaction of the academic community. The project solved the problem of access to modern laboratories that make the teaching process more practical.
The following were created and incorporated into the teaching process:
- professional multimedia shooting range: a modern shooting trainer equipped with firearm replicas,
- a modern and professional “virtual crime room”: VR used to learn forensic procedures,
- forensic laboratory equipped with modern teaching aids (including 3D fingerprint scanner, microscope) and chemical reagents necessary to examine the scene of the incident,
- some exercises at the combat shooting range using live ammunition.
Moreover, the project solved the problem of access to professional equipment used in teaching first aid (phantoms, imitation wounds, defibrillators). This enabled the academy to conduct workshops / additional classes for students and employees in the field of first aid.
The project thus contributed to making the education process in the field of “internal security” more practical, and students gained an opportunity to study forensics in conditions similar to their future professional work. The academy’s activities received positive feedback from law enforcement services.
To sum up, the project had a direct impact on modernizing the education process and improving its effects. It also contributed to better adapting students’ competences to the needs of the labor market.
Project beneficiaries
The project results will benefit: students (through access to modern laboratories, including a laser shooting range, virtual reality studio, forensic laboratory, rescue aid), teaching, management and administrative staff (in terms of better handling of the teaching process) and youth from local secondary schools cooperating with the academy. Thanks to the project, the academy has become “fresher” and more attractive to future students by facilitating the teaching process with modern teaching aids.
Major implementation challenges
The biggest challenge in implementing the project was the modern IT system for university management due to the need to migrate millions of data records while maintaining continuity of the academy operation.
It was also a challenge to build and implement the virtual shooting trainer and the virtual crime scene into the education process so that safety standards, expectations of shooting instructors and forensic technicians and requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education were met.
Our advice to other applicants
The key to success in implementing various undertakings, including projects, is professionalism, reliability, accuracy, conscientiousness and punctuality. The project does not always run smoothly but the contractor’s cooperation with the NCBR allows solving current problems, even those most difficult. The communicative approach of the parties combined with responsibility and mutual respect makes it possible to conduct the project effectively and achieve the expected results. The academy wishes future applicants many successes in the implementation of their projects and such a professional approach of the project supervisor with whom the academy had the opportunity to cooperate.
