What problem is addressed by the project?
Carrotsport is a productivity management platform using tools to engage employees and automate HR work to achieve business goals. It can help a variety of business programmes aimed at maximising efficiency, using customised tools to meet the needs of organisations, as well as, and most importantly, of employees.
The project implemented by MC2 Innovations Sp. z o.o. aimed to build an automated blockchain-based incentive and loyalty platform for Employers and Employees. The Platform leverages the blockchain technology to tokenise personalised employee benefits. The outcome of our R&D work is SaaS along with the necessary data-processing infrastructure. In our future projects, including the Seal of Excellence Fast Track project, we will expand Carrotspot to include BI and AI solutions, and one of our accelerators features elements of gamification.
Who uses the project results?
Carrotspot is addressed to medium-sized and large businesses (a workforce of 50 and more), i.e. service/manufacturing enterprises from industries hiring mainly white-collar creative professionals. Carrotspot is one of the first commercial applications of blockchain in the HR field.
The project results will benefit Employers – Carrotspot customers – as well as employees and HR teams.
What was the greatest challenge during project implementation?
The greatest challenge in our project was to reconcile research objectives with business goals. Despite the applicability of blockchain being confirmed, the pilot phase of the project led us to decide to modify our preliminary assumptions about the scope of blockchain application in implementing our platform.
Our initial assumption was that for a platform implemented at our customers’, Hyperldeger Fabric smart contracts could apply to single-token transaction records (distribution and allocation). However, as it proved necessary during pilot phases to allow the withdrawal of single-token transactions from the administrator (employer), we also had to deploy traditional database record mechanisms instead of storing smart contracts to the blockchain, from which already-recorded transactions cannot be withdrawn. Hyperledger Fabric smart contracts were used to record e-voucher transactions.
Our advice for other applicants
Our advice for other applicants would be to listen to Customers and stay attentive to their needs. Your project must be durable, including revenue-wise. Research hypotheses can be corroborated in the research & development process, but you need to be able to give them up (offer their usefulness for other applications of the same product) at the business proposal level if this is warranted by Customer needs.
