Cooperation beyond borders. Meeting with the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency
13.09.2023
NCBR Director Jacek Orzeł PhD met representatives of Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) and the Embassy of Georgia in Poland. The conversation focused on the possibility of cooperation between both agencies and various forms of support for innovators at individual stages of implementation of domestic and international projects.
Headed by Avtandil Kasradze, President of GITA, the Georgian delegation comprised George Kezherashvili, Mamuka Afakidze and Diana Balarjishvili from the Embassy of Georgia in Poland.
GITA President shared his experiences on how this agency operates. Its goal is to create an effective system in Georgia to facilitate the development of innovation and technology, as well as promote the commercialisation of innovative knowledge in order to incorporate the latest technologies into all sectors of the economy. GITA also seeks to enable the growth of investment capital and encourage the participation of private enterprises to increase research and establish effective processes necessary to boost Georgian competitiveness. The agency prioritises investments in the development of innovation-related infrastructure and participates in the opening of industrial laboratories innovation centres and technology parks.
NCBR representatives, in turn, showcased NCBR’s portfolio aimed at supporting innovation as well as listed areas of international cooperation that have been implemented for many years. Among other things, NCBR presented its bilateral and multilateral programmes in Europe and around the world, the acceleration activity with Nevada, "Solidarity with Scientists" programme and NCBR’s office
in Brussels. Our Georgian guests also became familiar with Akces NCBR which supports business projects that enter the market and seek help in the initial phase of their activities. Akces identifies projects with high commercialisation potential and of importance for the competitiveness of the Polish economy. Projects qualified for the programmes can then benefit from mentoring,
non-returnable financing and capital investments, thus sharing the risk associated with implementing innovations.
NCBR constantly expands its group of international partners, wanting to create even more favourable conditions for entrepreneurs and scientists to implement valuable projects and contribute to the creation of innovative solutions on a global scale.
