Meet our team

Jacek Hanke president of DCD
Jacek Hanke, President at DCD, co-founder, has a three-decade history with the IT industry. He graduated from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice and the France School of Business. He has authored and co-authored several dozens of electronic circuit architectures, which were implemented in hundreds of millions of devices across the world.
Tomasz Krzyżak, co-founder, has a more than three-decade history with the IT industry. He graduated from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, and has authored several dozens of electronic circuit designs, including world's fastest industrial processor 805 – DQ80251.

What problem is addressed by the project?

Crypt-One is a response to contemporary cybersecurity threats.
Both the European Commission and the U.S. National Security Agency highlight the need to develop a new system of protections resilient against the increasingly common threats. The development of quantum computers will bring an end to the traditional cryptography, which is why DCD engineers, in cooperation with outstanding Polish cryptographers, have developed a proprietary cryptographic system fully compliant with the guidelines set by the EC (PSD2) and the NSA.
Unlike CPUs we know in computers or telephones, Crypt-One is a tailor-made processor. Depending on the industry or project, this circuit can have different features (RSA, EC, TLS). And only one thing remains the same – it is 100 percent safe.
Modern ICT systems are exposed to hundreds of more or less sophisticated attacks each day. The implementation of Crypt-One allows the use of eliptical curves along with single unambiguous identification using single-use keys, providing the protected system with the highest security level.
With the rapid development of financial systems using the latest solutions in electronics increases user comfort and....creates more threats from the web. By employing Polish cryptologists’ self-developed solutions, Crypt-One offers unique and innovative solutions which are already fully compliant with the requirements postulated in PSD2, among others.
E-evidence, e-passports and e-prescriptions increase user comfort and substantially shorten the distance between the government and citizens. However, in order to ensure that this relationship is as secure as possible, Crypt-One is based on the proprietary DCD processor, whose architecture is known to only two engineers in the company.
With Crypt-One, you can secure each product using secure identification methods. Moreover, it is fully resilient against timing attacks, and its protections counteract side channel attacks (SCA) .

Who uses the project results?

The answer is simple – everyone! Crypt-One solutions can be implemented wherever electronics are involved. From telecommunications, to fintech, to e-gov, to the military.
There are three main groups of implementations which can serve as an example:
NFC

  • combination with the NFC module provides fast and secure wireless connection
  • fully compatible with ISO 7816-3: 2006 and EMV 4.1 standards
  • the only solution on the market which complies with PSD2 guidelines on the latest legislative changes to create more secure and innovative European payments – see Directive (EU) 2015/2366

Payment cards

  • Crypt-One allows you to log in to electronic banking without text messaging or tokens – you only need to bring the card to the reader
  • create next-generation payment cards – with an unprecedented system of single-use equipment keys
  • integrable not only with NFC, but also with blockchain, bringing payment transactions to a new level of security

Authentication

  • Crypt-One is a complete cryptographic system enabling single unambiguous identification of any product
  • Dedicated server or Peer 2 Peer
  • Full control over each implementation phase
  • Modifiable components
  • Dedicated app for smartphones

What was the greatest challenge during project implementation?

The project was marked by ambitious goals from the very beginning, since theory needed to be tested against available programming tools based on management's and software developers’ skills. All these elements combined helped us to create a functional prototype first, and then the final solution, which is innovative and scalable. The events of last days and months perfectly exemplify our assumptions.

Our advice for other applicants

Each idea, even the most ambitious and innovative one, requires a solid action plan with minute attention to detail. Developing an applicative project, evaluated by experts from different fields of science, is a perfect opportunity to test your assumptions. This is why we encourage entrepreneurs to send in their applications in projects announced by NCBR, as this the perfect opportunity to test your ambitious assumptions, and to follow through with an action plan that facilitates project implementation.
