What problem does our project solve?

The project's activities focused on different levels of social exclusion as well as entrepreneurship as a form of inclusion. The project participants had the opportunity to learn, among other things, about: social economy from the employees and volunteers of the Barka Mutual Assistance Foundation (as well as visiting their integration centre - an organic farm in Chudobczyce), art as a form of inclusion, the organisation of charity events, reasons for social exclusion (including, inter alia, due to addictions or homelessness). The project participants were not just listeners - in the course of the workshop they tried to find solutions and design inclusive activities and, importantly, learned to discuss relevant social issues in a way that was consistent with the principles of Oxford debates. The parents of the participants were also involved in one of the activities, which certainly helped us to promote the social economy to the older ones as well, and showed them that 12-13 year olds want to talk about difficult topics.

Who is going to benefit from the project results?

The results of the project are certainly benefiting:

  • Participants who have learnt to debate socially relevant issues and know that economic gain is worth linking to social gain. They also learned about photography, interviewing, developed a range of soft skills and co-organised a charity concert.
  • Parents of participants saw their children as conversation partners on socially important issues and developed their knowledge of the social economy.
  • Teachers, as they learnt a range of innovative teaching methods on the project topics
  • Social economy actors who were able to reach new people with their commercial offer, as well as their mission of social inclusion.
