What problem is addressed by the project?
The project was about conducting industrial research and development work to build and verify a tank car that is unique on a global scale, enabling the transport of the largest amount of isobutane in comparison to any other tank car on the market (up to 125m3), with a reduced own weight.
The project included in particular:
- building four exemplary tank cars,
- development of production line equipment for new tank car manufacturing technologies,
- conducting the tests required by the TSI.
The new tank car is equipped with unique solutions increasing the level of transport safety and protecting the natural environment. The pro-ecological nature of the tank car, in addition to the greater transport safety, also results from the developed production technology characterized by high energy efficiency of the process.
Who uses the project results?
Thanks to the research work that was carried out, the use of the experience gained over years and the possessed "know-how", CHEMET S.A. was able to create a new product with revolutionary features that successfully responded to an identified market niche and significantly impacted the market through the promulgation of technologically advanced constructions.
