Issues addressed

In the transport market there is a problem of ineffective use of the vehicle fleet and execution of transport orders. There are too many intermediaries (forwarders) who, through markups on their services, affect the profitability of shipment orders performed by transport companies.

Most transport companies from the SME sector use Google Maps to calculate routes and do it manually, without the ability to quickly analyze the profitability of the received order. This makes it impossible to control the costs incurred and may lead to a situation where transport companies transport cargo below the bottom line.

The search for carriers is based each time on sending e-mails and calling to make arrangements including those about the price.

Project beneficiaries

The result of the R&D project in the form of a logistics system available on-line enabling real-time car fleet management, drivers’ working time management, and assignment of shipment orders optimized in terms of transport profitability is used by the following companies, among others:

Omega Pilzno – 700 vehicles, 

Sachs – 474 vehicles,

Mazury Trans Sp. z o.o. – 70 vehicles

Our advice to other applicants

It is important to look for potential clients for the R&D project results at the development stage. When the project is completed, you should already have a list of clients to whom you can offer the resulting technology. Often, customers themselves will be able to suggest corrections at the development stage, which will enable the solution to be better tailored to their needs.
