What problem is addressed by the project?

This project was launched in response to the following 5 problems we had identified:

1. POOR EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY
Even though the job market expects future employees to be well-rounded individuals, data show that more than 1 in 3 university graduates are not comprehensively or practically prepared, e.g. in such aspects as entrepreneurship or modern technology, to work as teachers.

2. LIMITED ABILITY TO DEVELOP ENTERPRISING AND PROACTIVE ATTITUDES
Often, teachers are not aware of the correct approaches to entrepreneurship, whether in relation to teaching content and goals, or effective methods. Data show that 43.1% of teachers rarely or only sometimes use learner-activating methods while teaching entrepreneurship.

3. POOR DIGITAL SKILLS
It is estimated that both in Poland and in the EU as a whole, about 90% of all professions require at least some basic digital skills, but people who occupy the lowly positions on the labour market usually do not have such skills.

4. INSUFFICIENT ABILITY TO ASSESS ONE'S POTENTIAL
About 54% of employers expect their employees to improve in such areas as independence, self-confidence, and communication. For this purpose, they need to be able to evaluate their potential for personal growth, which will sharpen their communication, self-presentation, and business-presentation skills.

5. LIMITED ABILITY TO USE ICT TOOLS
Many teachers in Poland are unable to use the available information and communication technologies in their teaching, or use these in their classrooms only to a limited extent, even though this makes up one of the eight key competences for lifelong learning (Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 on key competences for lifelong learning).

Who uses the project results?

The TARGET GROUP of this project is 400 people, including 360 women and 40 men, who are non-standard recipients of higher education.
Because of their character, our massive open online courses (MOOCs) will be available to everyone interested with basic digital skills related to computer use, including in particular for:
graduates of education studies and teaching majors of different types, who teach or plan to teach

  • children and teenagers in schools and other organisations or institutions (Course 1);
  • entrepreneurship or career counselling (Course 2).

These courses are also open to other people interested in such topics.
The course entitled "Using information and communication technologies in teaching" provides organisational, communicational, and content-related guidance and practical recommendations to help teachers comprehensively use information and communication technologies in teaching. This course includes such modules as effective online communication with students, parents, and teachers, online collaboration, tools for teachers: mobile apps for general, integrated and special education classrooms, skills that support teaching and education, promotion of educational institutions, and online activity of young people: social engagement, cyber-risks, and educational challenges.

"Success is no accident. Build your entrepreneurial skills" is a course intended for educators, teachers and other professionals who are interested in acquiring entrepreneurial skills. This course helps its participants learn how to correctly prepare a business plan, create a financial form, develop a marketing strategy for their own business ideas, and improve their career prospects.
