Issues addressed
Thanks to the implementation of the project, the accessibility of the university for persons with disabilities and special needs in terms of architectural and communication accessibility, administered websites, IT tools and educational procedures has significantly increased.
We obtained funds that allowed us to finance activities that were not possible to finance to such an extent from the subsidy provided every year for the activities of the Office of Persons with Disabilities. A lift was installed in one of the university buildings, making it fully architecturally accessible. The university’s website has been aligned with the WCAG 2.1 standard. The teaching and administrative staff of the university were trained in awareness and received specialist training, which allowed to increase the accessibility of the teaching process. A compulsory e-learning course on increasing awareness of disabilities for students was developed. A video was recorded to raise awareness of the barriers and problems that students with disabilities encounter during their studies. A support center was established where we offer psychological and educational support. Accessible mobile applications for student services and virtual education were implemented.
Project beneficiaries
The results of the project benefit the university staff, students and the broadly defined social environment. Increasing accessibility of universities is a benefit for their staff and students with disabilities and special needs, as well as all other people visiting universities, for example children attending extra classes organized by the university.
