Have a look at the outcome of our work

The results of our work are six MOOC-type e-learning courses that will be launched on the NAVOICA platform in the near future (May 2023). Current information can be found on the project website and on the following platform. Descriptions of the courses are available at website.

What problem does our project solve?

The most important objective of the project is to bring the participant closer to understanding natural processes on a local and global scale. The four courses show different aspects of the functioning of natural systems: the processes taking place in water bodies and their effects on water quality, the transformation of the landscape within the earth's crust and the ways and scales of human impact on the natural environment. A tool for learning about environmental change is digital spatial data, which is a carrier of information and knowledge. Two courses show the way to use them effectively.

Who will benefit from the outcomes of the project?

Almost 2,000 people have already benefited from our courses. The recipients of the courses are a wide range of people interested in nature and GIS: pupils, students, teachers, educators, but also officials, practitioners and enthusiasts. Many participants undertook the courses with the hope of gaining new competences needed in their existing or undertaken career. In May 2023, the fourth edition of the courses will be launched.

What was the most challenging aspect of the implementation of the project for us?

The biggest challenge in implementing the project was related to the process of constructing the content of the individual courses. The correct choice of delivery methods and the correct planning of interaction with the participant were anybody's guess for us before the launch of the first edition. The distribution of accents in the content, the reduction of redundancy in the material and the clarity of the task instructions required constant redesign at the course development stage. Now that the courses are freely accessible, the challenge remains to ensure that the information is up-to-date and that the courses are correct in technical terms.
