Minister of Science and Higher Education Marcin Kulasek

Marcin Kulasek, PhD Eng.

Marcin Kulasek (born on 4 April 1976) is a graduate of the Faculty of Food Science at Olsztyn’s University of Warmia and Mazury where he was also awarded a PhD degree in agricultural sciences with a specialisation in food and nutrition technology. He also completed a postgraduate programme in EU fund management at the University of Warmia and Mazury and holds a postgraduate degree in security and crisis management from the Military Studies Centre of the Gdynia Maritime University.

Marcin Kulasek has been combining his academic pursuits with work for public administration and local governments for many years. Among other things, he served as an assistant to the governor of Warmia and Mazury and at the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture. In 2014, he was elected as a councillor of the Warmia and Mazury Regional Assembly and since 2016, he has served as the Secretary General of New Left, previously known as the Democratic Left Alliance.

In the 2019 parliamentary elections, he won a seat as a member of the Polish Sejm (lower house of Parliament). In the ninth term of the Sejm, he served on the Committee on Education, Science and Youth, presided over the Standing Subcommittee on Science and Higher Education and worked as a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. He also served as vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission, worked on the subcommittee that drafted the Homeland Defence Act and was involved in work on the modernisation of the armed forces.

In the elections of 15 October 2023, he was once again elected Member of the Sejm.

On 18 December 2023, he was appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets.

On 17 January 2025, he took office as Minister of Science at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
