During the event, the head of the Ministry of Science stressed the importance of building lasting relationships between academic institutions and the benefits of international cooperation. “Thank you very much for your work. We want to promote cooperation between European higher education institutions. The strategy of the 4EU+ Alliance largely coincides with our science policy,” noted the Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek.

The mission and activities of the 4EU+ Alliance

The Alliance currently includes 8 European universities:

  • University of Warsaw (Poland)
  • Charles University (Czech Republic)
  • Heidelberg University (Germany)
  • University of Paris-Panthéon-Assas (France)
  • Sorbonne University (Sorbonne Université, France)
  • University of Copenhagen (Denmark)
  • University of Milan (Italy)
  • University of Geneva (Switzerland)

The 4EU+ Alliance was established in 2018, with a mission to increase student and employee mobility, integrate curricula and develop common educational frameworks. To date, a number of research and education projects have been successful, including flagship initiatives on health, multilingualism and environmental transformation.

The alliance has also established a new office in Brussels to support international cooperation and facilitate the acquisition of EU funds for research projects. Minister Wieczorek noted that investing in the education of the younger generation and scientific research is key to the development of both society and the economy.

Handing over the presidency to the University of Warsaw is not only a symbolic act, but also a recognition of its achievements on the international stage. The University has many challenges ahead, but also great potential for further development and strengthening the position of Polish science in Europe.

We wish the University of Warsaw much success and continued fruitful cooperation within the 4EU+ Alliance!
