Polish-Czech intergovernmental consultations with the participation of the Minister of Science

Polish-Czech intergovernmental consultations were held in Prague. The session was chaired by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The meeting was also attended by Minister Dariusz Wieczorek, who met with Czech Minister of Science, Research and Innovation Marek Ženíšek.
Polish-Czech intergovernmental consultations
The meeting was a key element of cooperation between Poland and the Czech Republic. Among other topics, the parties discussed joint cross-border initiatives, particularly in the areas of transport infrastructure and flood protection. The consultations were aimed at strengthening dialogue and developing concrete solutions that will benefit both countries.
The session was held at the Straka Academy, the seat of the Czech government, where nuclear energy issues and Poland’s preparations for its presidency of the EU Council were also discussed. Support for Ukraine was also an important point of discussion.
Meeting of science ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic
The science minister met on site with the Czech Minister of Science, Research and Innovation Marek Ženíšek. The parties discussed, among other things, past cooperation in the field of science and technology as well as the strengthening of mutual relations in the context of Poland’s future presidency of the Council of the European Union. The ministers also expressed their willingness to seek new forms of cooperation, with a particular focus on leading scientific research directions.
The talks also included the exchange of knowledge on the management of the higher education system as well as better use of existing research infrastructure. The heads of the ministries stressed the importance of cooperation in research on climate change and natural disasters, especially in the context of the recent floods that hit both countries.
“I proposed a joint team of Polish-Czech scientists that would focus on the floods. We want to prepare a joint analysis of the causes and consequences of the recent events. We will explore additional possibilities for flood protection,” said Minister Dariusz Wieczorek.
