Polish-Japanese cooperation for future technologies

28.01.2025

The Staszic Palace hosted a ceremony to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the High Pressure Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, The Japan Steel Works and Mitsubishi Chemical Group Corporation. The document sets new directions for joint activities in the development of gallium nitride crystal growth technology - a material that could revolutionize modern electronics and optoelectronics. Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Andrzej Szeptycki, took part in the celebrations.

Polish-Japanese cooperation for future technologies

In his speech, Deputy Minister Szeptycki stressed the importance of such cooperation for the development of innovation in Poland. - The signing of this memorandum is important for three reasons. Firstly - it confirms that science is universal in nature. Leading centers from Poland and Japan developing gallium nitride production first worked separately on the issue, but today they have decided to join their efforts. Secondly - this memorandum is also a tangible manifestation of the partnership between science and business, which shows that scientific research has a practical impact on our lives, on the level of development of our countries. Thirdly, this document is a tangible manifestation of the growing cooperation between Poland and Japan - two countries that are geographically distant but part of the global West, two countries that share an interest in each other's culture and potential, he noted.

Foundations for future achievements

The signed memorandum is an important step toward the development of innovations that can revolutionize the advanced materials industry and strengthen Poland's position on the international stage. Joint activities with Japanese partners are also an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience that will accelerate the development of technology on a global scale.
