Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek solemnly inaugurated the 48th edition of the European Students’ Convention. One of the most important events in the calendar of European student organizations attracted representatives of university self-governments from 40 member countries. Poland for the first time has the honor of serving as host of this prestigious meeting.

30.08.2024Marek Więckowski, PhD, becomes vice-president of the International Geographical UnionThe 35th International Geographical Congress is in session in Dublin. At the meeting held on August 26, new authorities of this organization were elected. Marek Więckowski, PhD – professor at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences – was appointed vice-president of the International Geographical Union.

09.08.2024Preparations for Poland’s Presidency of the EU Council – visit of the head of the Ministry of Science Dariusz Wieczorek to BrusselsMinister Dariusz Wieczorek paid an official visit to Brussels. While there, he met with the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the EU Piotr Serafin as well as representatives of the Polish science and innovation sector from the National Center for Research and Development and the Office of Science Promotion “PolSCA” of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The delegation also included: Director-General of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Diana Matusik and the Minister’s Plenipotentiary for European Affairs and the Polish Presidency of the EU Council Prof. Patrycja Matusz.

11.06.2024Head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education at Rzeszów University of Technology, “We would like to restore the authority of the academic staff”Minister Dariusz Wieczorek visited Rzeszów University of Technology as part of regular meetings with university authorities and students throughout Poland. The main purpose of the visits is to identify the needs, problems and challenges of the academic community. It is also an element which will be subject to consultations before planned changes to the Act on Higher Education.

07.06.2024New cooperation programme with BulgariaThe Ministry of Science and Higher Education signed a new 2024-2027 cooperation programme with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria. On behalf of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the agreement was signed by Deputy Minister Andrzej Szeptycki, and the Bulgarian side was represented by Ambassador Margarita Ganeva. This is a yet another implementing agreement for the 1993 intergovernmental agreement regulating academic exchange.
