The 20th jubilee edition of Medical and Sport Technologies and Young Biomechanics Conference is behind us. The event took place from 17th to 19th May in Wisła. The meeting attracted many scientists, students and representatives of the business world who talked about the opportunities and challenges facing innovative technologies. Also present were Minister Dariusz Wieczorek and deputy ministers Marek Gzik, Maria Mrówczyńska and Andrzej Szeptycki.

Deputy Minister Andrzej Szeptycki paid an official visit to the United States. As part of the delegation, the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education visited Washington and New York. He attended Science, Technology & Innovation Forum for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum), he also met with representatives of federal government.

Minister of Science and Higher Education Dariusz Wieczorek took part in the 16th European Economic Congress in Katowice. During the event, the head of the Ministry appeared in a discussion panel "Education for the future". An away meeting of the Council of Ministers was also held in Katowice.

This year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union. This is certainly one of the most important events in the recent history of our country. The last two decades have brought many significant changes in the political and socio-economic landscape of Poland, offering us broad development prospects. The academic and scientific community has gained many new opportunities resulting from the enormous potential of European integration.

266,000 Polish students have benefited from the Erasmus programme in 20 years of Poland's membership in the EU. They opted to go to Spain most frequently, followed by Germany and Italy. 1st May marks the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union. “I remember that day very well. There was great joy. One of the key EU programmes is the Erasmus programme, which provides an opportunity for exchange. This programme works great in Poland," said Minister of Science and Higher Education Dariusz Wieczorek at a press conference. In 2024, the budget for the Erasmus+ programme in Poland amounts to EUR 262 million.

Minister Dariusz Wieczorek received the United States ambassador to Poland, Marek Brzezinski. The meeting focused on current cooperation in the field of research and higher education, as well as prospects for the development of mutual relations.

On 19th April 2024, Director General of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Diana Matusik, met with the Plenipotentiary of the Minister for university support in improving accessibility, Anna Rutz, and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Government Plenipotentiary for the Disabled, Łukasz Krasoń. The talks at the headquarters of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy focused on the "Accessible University" NCBR competition.

Students of the Warsaw School of Economics and the University of Silesia came second in the World Negotiation Championship, which took place in the Netherlands in early April. They even defeated Harvard representatives in the competition! The best negotiators included: Aleksander Łabuć, Dominik Zdebik, Paweł Urzenitzok and Bartosz Dominikowski. For the first time in a decade, a team from Poland was among the runners up of this competition.

The first meeting of the Advisory Team to promote Polish research abroad was held at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The task of this body will be to support the promotion of achievements and successes of young scientists and those who can already boast significant research achievements. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Andrzej Szeptycki.

Polish-Ukrainian intergovernmental consultations have ended. The event included talks between the heads of the ministries of education and science from Poland and Ukraine. The meeting was attended by Minister Dariusz Wieczorek, Deputy Minister Andrzej Szeptycki, Minister Barbara Nowacka and Deputy Minister Joanna Mucha. The Ukrainian side was represented by: Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisowyj and Deputy Minister Yevhen Kudriawets.
