Polish unemployment rate in May only slightly increased

The unemployment rate in Poland slightly increased in May (3.0% in relation to 2.9% in April). It is a particularly good result, considering the EU average of 6.7%. The euro area countries note an even higher unemployment rate (7.4%). Czech Republic was the only country ahead of us.

The total number of unemployed in May amounted to 505 thousand in relation to 496 thousand in April.

Importantly, we note a further reduction of unemployment rate in the group of young people which amounted to 9.1% in May in relation to 9.2% the month prior.
