Eurostat: unemployment rate still low

In Poland, according to the estimates by the Eurostat, unemployment rate was 4.5% in January 2018.

The EU28 unemployment rate was 7.3% and in the euro area 8.6%.

The EU28 unemployment rate was 7.3% in January 2018, stable compared to the previous month and down 0.8 point compared to last year.

Poland was among 7 countries with the lowest unemployment rate of 4,5% that remained stable compared to December 2017. In turn, compared to January 2017, it decreased by 0.8 percentage points (from 5,3%). According to estimates by the Eurostat, in January 2017, the number of persons unemployed in Poland amounted 912 thousand, compared to 768 thousand in 2018.

Among the Member States, the lowest unemployment rates in January 2018 were recorded in the Czech Republic (2.4%), Malta (3.5%) and Germany (3.6%). The highest unemployment rates were observed in Greece (20.9%) and Spain (16.3%).
