Social effects of 500 plus

08.02.2017

Seminar entitled “Monitoring of first social effects of the Family 500 plus programme,” organised by the “Social policy, family” division of the National Development Council, was held on 8 February in the Presidential Palace.

Apart from President Andrzej Duda, it was attended by Minister Elżbieta Rafalska.

By the end of 2016, PLN 17.6 billion in total was spent from the state budget on the “Family 500+” programme. 3.808 million children are eligible for the child benefit, which accounts for 55 per cent of all children under the age of 18. The benefit was collected by 63 per cent of children in rural areas and 48 per cent of children in cities.

Thanks to the programme, the standard of living of families collecting the child benefit has improved, allowing families to live in a sense of greater financial security. The programme has also brought about a marked improvement in the material conditions of families, resulting in a decrease in the number of people using social assistance benefits and nutritional assistance.
