Poland in the lead of the EU countries in terms of family support

03.11.2016

Poland comes 4th out of 28 countries of the European Union in terms of family support, according to the report of the PwC “Family tax reliefs and benefits in the EU countries.”

The PwC analysis for the “Family tax reliefs and benefits in the EU countries” report indicates that currently, the average amount of direct assistance of EU states in the field of child allowances and family benefits is around PLN 9,806 per year. In fact, as many as 18 countries (i.e. over 60%) do not reach this value. In this comparison, Poland is ranked 13th, which means a rise of 11 places compared to 2015.

“This is the most important rise on the anniversary of the government of Beata Szydło. Our efforts and actions for families are noticed and appreciated. This is a reason for great satisfaction for us, but we are not resting on our laurels. We are taking further steps to make the situation of Polish families better and better,” said Elżbieta Rafalska, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.

The situation in Poland looks even better when you compare the level of family support to the average wage in individual countries. Poland ranks on a high 4th place – it is an important rise by 16 places compared to the previous year. The only countries ahead of us are France, Hungary and Austria.

“We received, among others, the Award of the European Large Family Confederation (ELFAC) for our actions, in particular for the ‘Family 500 plus’ programme. It was a signal that our actions are heading in the right direction. The resources that we provide for families are used primarily for comprehensive development of children and education. Our actions show that investment in family pays us all,” Minister Rafalska added.
