Unemployment down. The newest data
24.04.2019
In March this year, the registered unemployment rate amounted to 5.9 percent in comparison with 6.1 percent in February. As results from the newest data of Statistics Poland, in the last month 984.7 thousand persons were registered in employment offices.
The published data regarding the unemployment rate is compliant with the previous estimates of the Ministry of Family. Whereas, (according to the Statistics Poland) there are even fewer persons registered in employment offices than estimated by the Ministry; according to our data, in March 986 thousand persons were registered in employment agencies.
It is gratifying that the number of the unemployed in March is blow one million persons. It is a prove that the labour market is still in a very good condition - says the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Elżbieta Rafalska.
The labour market gets better and better
The situation in the labour market is, in fact, systematically improving.
- in March 2018 the unemployment rate amounted to 6.6 percent,
- at this time almost 1.1 million persons were registered in employment offices.
The situation looks even better, if we compare current data to the analogous period from four years ago.
- in March 2015 the unemployment rate amounted to 11.7 percent,
- over 1.8 million persons were registered in employment offices.
This year we expect another decreases, however, they will not be as spectacular as they have been so far. The reason being that we are approaching the level of the natural unemployment rate. Nonetheless, the unemployment will continue to decrease in compliance with the assumptions of the draft of the state budget for the year 2019, the unemployment rate at the end of the current year will amount to 5.6 percent – reminds Elżbieta Rafalska.
