Poland among countries with the lowest unemployment rate

In Poland, according to the estimates by the Eurostat, unemployment rate was at 4.4% in December 2017, i.e. 0.1 point less compared to previous month.

In December the EU28 unemployment rate was 7.3% and in the euro area 8.7%.

The EU28 unemployment rate was 7.3% in December 2017, stable compared to the previous month and down 0.9 point compared to last year.

Poland was among 6 countries with the lowest unemployment rate of 4,4%, i.e. down 0.1 percentage points compared to November 2017. In turn, compared to December 2016, it decreased by 1.1 percentage points (from 5,5%).

According to estimates by the Eurostat, in December 2017, the number of persons unemployed in Poland amounted 763 thousand, compared to 779 thousand in the previous month. In 2016 it was 941 thousand persons.

Among the Member States, the lowest unemployment rates in December 2017 were recorded in the Czech Republic (2.3%), Germany and Malta (both 3.6%). The highest unemployment rates were observed in Greece (20.7% in October 2017) and Spain (16.4%).
